Completing
Green Square
Green Square is a mixed-use precinct located just over four kilometres south of Sydney’s CBD, approximately four kilometres from Sydney Airport, with direct access to Green Square train station. Rezoned over 20 years ago from an industrial hub to a mixed-use residential area, the 280 hectares of land has become one of Australia’s largest urban renewal projects.
In 2012, Mirvac entered into a Project Delivery Agreement with Landcom and constructed 476 high-quality apartments within the award-winning Ebsworth and OVO buildings as part of Stage 1 of Green Square Town Centre. Green Square’s high street along Ebsworth Street was also developed to include a 2,000sqm Woolworths supermarket along with various shops, cafes and restaurants. Mirvac retains ownership of this retail precinct.
Following a successful partnership, Mirvac acquired Landcom’s ownership of the future stages of Green Square Town Centre in Sydney in October 2020.
As part of Stage 2, Mirvac completed an additional 319 apartments across three more buildings including The Fredrick, Portman on the Park and Portman House, all completed in early to mid-2024 and brought to life with more street-level retail and dining. In late 2024, seven terraces on Portman St were also completed, drawing inspiration from the surrounding traditional Victorian terraces.
Building on this legacy, we have commenced early and constructive engagement with key stakeholders to inform the vision for our final stage of development.
What's next?
Following the successful completion of our earlier stages, we are now progressing plans for the final stages of our Green Square site - stages 3, 4 and 5. The site is well located within one of Sydney’s most liveable urban renewal precincts—surrounded by recreation facilities, green spaces, high-quality schools, cultural institutions, and healthcare services.
Earlier this year, we submitted an expression of interest (EOI) to the NSW Housing Delivery Authority for a housing-led proposal for the final stages of our Green Square site. This EOI was accepted, and we are now in the early stage of planning for a scheme which may include a mix of new homes and retail, as well as improvements to local connections to help activate the town square.
